The fonts used in a magazine are important because they help stylise the magazine. The fonts used have to link with the layout and images to form the appearance of the magazine. If the text is changed it can modify the look of a magazine and may not suit the demographic of the magazine that is why choosing the correct font is very important. I have chosen the modern no. 20 font because it will suit the style of my magazine and appeal to my demographic. Modern no. 20 is a serif font with a professional yet slightly informal look. This is perfect for my magazine as the magazine has to look professional or it will not be taken seriously. I think however that if the font appears too formal it will deter my demographic away from the magazine. I think that when people look at an article before reading it the font has an impact on whether they want to read it. Appearance is important and this includes the font you use; the font I have selected was chosen because i think it represents the concept and style of my magazine the best. The modern look of it is applicable to my demographic because the style of music in my magazine is modern and uses modern technology. It is an easy to read font which is good for everyone. It is quite basic because I think if a font is really extravagent it can draw attention away from the content, using this font keeps the focus on the content in the article. The font in the article from mixmag is a sansserif font. It is similar to my font as they are both basic fonts.
The title font is a very important feature in a magazine and is one of the main features that attracts an audience to the magazine. That is why it is so important to choose the right font. The title has to have impact and represent the style of your magazine so it attracts your target audience. The font I have chosen looks like it has been stamped onto the magazine with so much force that the ink has overrun aound the letters. This gives it a grimey look which is appropriate to the music featured in the magazine and is appropriate to the target audience because the attitudes of the target audience is to be extreme and party for as long as physically possible. The impression of stamping has connotations of a warning which will attract my demographic as they are interested in danger. It is clear that it has been stamped down with a lot of force which can also relate to the energy of the audience and music. The message of a stamp is always short and to the point this links with the ideas of the magazine. It demonstrates that the magazine will express itself in a clear and open way which also relates to the meaning of the title. The force at which it has been stamped down also shows the conviction and belief of the things it represents. Although the style of my font is unique and distinctive it has similarities to the font used in the title of ATM. Both fonts are simple and bold to stand out and be memorable. Both look like they have ink coming off the title to give links with the target audience. The effect is done in a different way but have similar affects.
